On Citizenship Education — Call for Volunteers
As regular readers would know, we are conducting a residential Training of Trainers program (TOT) on Citizenship Education. We have a couple of places left in the program and we’d like to offer that to anyone who’s interested in volunteering with Beyond Borders on our citizenship education programs.
From about 2006, we have been conducting workshops, conferences, peace camps, etc. on what we call citizenship education. It’s stuff we think as voters and citizens that people, and especially young people, should know about. The issues addressed range from peace, conflict and governance issues to stuff like gender, sexuality, environment, etc.
We generally work with youth, in all walks of life and everything is done by volunteers who put some time into making our country just a little better. Informed youngsters means, informed voters and informed voters are a requirement for a sound democracy.
So If you are interested in helping out and would like to be our TOT drop us a line on info[at]beybodborders.lk with some basic information and how much time per month can you possibly spend. You must be below the age of 26 or very young at heart.
The TOT is this weekend.
Dates : From Friday, 3rd of April 5.30 pm (just after work) to Sunday 5th April 4.30 pm
Place : A training centre Somewhere in Borella. (will be notified)
We’ll be providing food, accomdation and free music if you want.
